Alsalam 3leekm,

The Eid was (as usual) very quiet in Essex, and the fact that we will be having exams in a week time made it even quieter. Our Eid was just the Eid prayer, after that every one made his own way to whether London, the bed (the majority) :) and the Lab (me)
But we had a wonderful time taking pictures and celebrating the Eid after the Eid prayer, it was a short celebration though. At night, those who slept earlier woke up, and those who didn't, slept, so we still didn't gather :) but we will today. Probably today is our real Eid.
Attached is a picture for some Qatari guys in that was taken from where the Eid prayer was held.

Alsalam 3alaicom,

The Eid had another taste with Essex girls as the majority of us went to Londen yesterday. It was fun because we met our friends from the other universities and planned to spend the day together. We might had a really good time together in London, but we had some annoyance yesterday that irritated us  .

We went to a restaurant in London to have a lunch there and as we were a large number of girls we had to wait until they find an empty table for us. As we waited for a while, a little girl and her father were leaving the restaurant, but when the girl saw us sitting all together next to the entrance door, she stopped and couldn't take any further steps  ..It seems that she was so scared of us..I don't know why..Her father said to her "Look there don't look there" the second "there" was for us..Her father started to look at us so badly that we felt angry. After that, they found us a table and we went to eat. As we were eating, one of three british guys who were leaving the restaurant saw us while passing and said to his friend loudly: "Is it Ramadan..or is it ( a bad word)? ." We got angrier but later on we were surprised that the manger came to us and asked whether everything was ok or not and of course we said yes because we didn't want to make problems in the Eid..

We think it wasn't a pleasent idea to go out as a large number of girls  because what happened yesterday wasn't the first time..We had something similar when we were just 7 and it was even in Colchester.

By the end of the day I and of course many others wished we could spend the Eid in Qatar with our families and friends no matter how nice the Eid might be in the UK it will never be as nice as it is at home.

Have a nice Eid everyone :)

It is unfortunate to hear that all that happened to our sisters yesterday. We are living in such a horrible era for Muslims and Arabs, we even get more than that, but we hardly talk about it.

It's a nice to gather and go out specially in celebrity events like the Eid, but irritating things always expectable and unpreventable. May be our sisters have to make a choice in a difference approach, like gathering only..

Overall, May Allah reward your, our and every Qatari student's patience, soon we will be graduated and every thing will be just a part of our old bad or good memories. So please take good care of yourselves until then

It is really sad to hear that our sisters had such a problem especially in Eid. However, from my experience the west (US & Europe) after 9/11 is becoming less tolerant to Islam so we should be aware of that and live our lifes accordingly.

As guys you would think that we would not be noticed and we would have less problems but the stories I heard today from some of the brothers made me change my mind.
Anyway, I think we should be more conscious of the problems that can arise and try to follow some simple safety procedures (eg moving in groups, avoiding dark places at night). More importantly, we should try to improve the image of muslims here by setting good examples and talking to people about the real Islam we know changing the picture that the media is spreading.

May Allah reward sister Sarah for sharing her experience with us and inshalah this thing wouldn't happen again.

your brother,
Ayman

Assalam Alaikom everybody..

Firstly, I'd like to say "Eid Mubarak" for you all and may Allah accept your good deeds during Ramadan... :)

Secondly, I'd like to thank everybody who are in charge of this forum and who came up with this brilliant idea. Inshallah, this forum will be our contact point and jazakom Allah khair..

Well, there was an activity that everybody forgot to mention about Eid day. That acitivity is the Eid party that was organized by the Islamic Society in our university. The party included an entertaining program as well as a dinner. The best thing was the gathering of many Muslims who were greeting and congratulating each other.

Surely, Eid in Doha is different, but I think it was a nice party...
